Sometimes words fail me and the only word that seems to fit my heart cry is your name. The sound of it ushers a moment of peace over my entire being.
Your name is a tower of strength that declares protection over me. Your name is my battle-cry over the mound of dirty laundry, the internal thoughts that fight against my confidence, and the serpent who sneaks in to tempt me from pursuing righteousness.
Your name is my hope for tomorrow. It's the breath that fills my lungs with air yet again.
1 You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
You are always there there - its my awareness of you that changes.
Make me aware of your presence, Jesus. I want to see you in the sunrise and in a gust of wind. Oh, but Jesus,I yearn to see you in sink full of dirty dishes and in a traffic jam.
The song echos in my mind -
In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus
You can have all this world
But give me Jesus
The whisper of your name on my lips is sometimes all I can muster up. But, Jesus that is my heart calling to your Holy Spirit. Come and fill this space Jesus it's what my heart longs for -
...to be overwhelmed by your Spirit, Lord.
